Subject: [Info_clera] CPD: Short and Sweet: Using film in the Modern
	Languages Classroom

Dear CLERA Member,

We will be running a twilight workshop on the use of short film in the modern languages classroom on Thursday 7th May 2015.

Short films can add a whole variety to your day-to-day lessons and can contribute to icebreakers, quick language points, listening skills and as practical communication tasks.

Whether you have used film in your classroom before, or are new to the idea, this workshop will give you the chance to experience some films, ideas and resources to take back into your school - and call 'action!'
The session will be delivered by Mike Tait, a producer of the annual Discovery Film Festival based at Dundee Contemporary Arts. Working with both the public cinema programme as well as schools across the region (through a mix of school screenings, practical film-related workshops and CPD events for teachers) his role is to increase engagement with the venue and moving image education opportunities for younger audiences throughout the year. Formerly a classroom teacher of film and media in further education, he has been cinema-based for the last ten years, promoting both MIE and the big screen experience.
