All,

To confirm, parts of the campus will be closed this weekend to enable essential
maintenance, infrastructure improvements and project developments to take
place, as per the below previous email:-

You may recall that it has been agreed that ECD can close the Main Building and
Wings on an annual basis so that essential maintenance can be carried out. The
details below are for the 2017 annual closure, I would appreciate that you make
a note of these dates and forward plan any work/experiments accordingly.

These works is being carried out to ensure that critical elements of the
university infrastructure remain safe and reliable, we understand that it may
be inconvenient, and so would like to apologise for the disruption and thank
you in advance for your patience and cooperation.

We need to close the Main Building including North Wing and South Wing to
facilitate the maintenance of the Electrical and Mechanical infrastructure.

The building will be closed at 8pm on Friday 30^th June and will reopen again
at 6am on Monday 3^rd July 2017.

The majority of the works will be within the basement service areas of the Main
Building and ‘A’ corner of all floors, however there will be a rolling loss of
power throughout the Main Building and Wings during the weekend.

During this period there will not be power for lighting, lifts, safety alarms
etc hence our decision to close the building in the interest of safety.

This will not affect the university main server rooms (however some wiring
closets will be affected).

The Student Union and EBRI building will also be closed on Saturday 1^st July.
Please refer to local communication regarding closure times.

On the days where it is indicated that the building will be closed, access will
only be provided to those who have obtained prior authorisation. If you
require special access (e.g. to attend to experiments, etc.) you will need to
obtain permission in advance from both your Head of School/Department and the
Deputy Director Of Estates, Adrian Owen. If you have permission to access the
Main Building and the Wings, the lifts must not be used.

The maintenance works have been coordinated with the School Technical Managers
to minimize disruption to experiments/laboratory equipment.
